We empower households with sustainable livelihoods that are resilient to climate change.
We empower women and youth from vulnerable households through training in regenerative organic farming, including kitchen gardens for household nutrition. Participants learn drought-resistant crops, permaculture, agroforestry, and other climate-resilient practices to boost yields and adapt to changing conditions. This training also equips them to sell excess produce, generating income and enhancing their livelihoods while promoting sustainable agriculture.
A successful pilot dairy goat project in Kiambu County has empowered nine vulnerable women, including widows and single mothers. Each received a goat, training, and community support, resulting in improved farming (even pre-milk production), increased hope, food security, and community connection. Building on this success, a sustainability plan will expand the project to other households in our target areas using a social business model, ensuring long-term impact and replicability.
Our poverty graduation project empowers ultra-poor women and youth to escape poverty by creating and professionalizing local credit and savings groups. Participants receive vital financial inclusion and entrepreneurship training, focusing on savings, business skills, and credit access. This comprehensive approach, combined with financial literacy training, enables them to invest in businesses, build sustainable livelihoods, and break the cycle of poverty.
